1949 – 3 books of the 4 Boxed Set
Published in 1949 by Blue Ribbon Books, "A Handy Knitting Library" is a boxed set of 4 "how to knit" instructional books. The author is listed as Marti (Martha Dreiblatt) and illustrations were by Eva Melady.
The 4 titles include:
1. Knitting is Easy
2. Sweaters and Cardigans
3. Gloves, Socks, Scarves and Gifts
4. Knitting for Children and Babies
THIS SET IS MISSING THE 1ST BOOK ‘KNITTING IS EASY’ and the box.
The set measures 7 1/4 inches high, is 5 3/8 depth and 1 1/8 shelf width. The 3 books offer instructions in basic knitting and progress through a variety of items. There are ample illustrations and clearly written instructions.
The 3 books are in great condition. Although they are a discarded library set, they are hardly worn out. There is some damage to each book, but nothing unbearable. Bindings are intact and the inside pages are clean. Take a look at my pictures.
These could be used to replace a partially destroyed set or copy the patterns and be knitted up! The gloves are beautiful and have fingers!
